Choosing a Stone
Due to the nature of marble and granite the actual color
of the installed product may vary from a smaller or sample
piece. During the formation fo the stone over millions of
years, natural variations such as pits and fissures may have
developed. Some stones are more prone to this occurrence such
as Baltic Brown. For this reason it is recommended that the
customer view and approve the slab before fabrication.
CMD stocks a variety of marble and granite. We may suggest
an initial visit to our showroom to view the material. We
also work with several distributors in the Maryland/ Virginia
area. We recommend a visit to one of them as well for a greater
view of stone available.
When choosing a stone from CMD or a distributor please call
ahead to schedule an appointment. To make selection a bit
easier we suggest bringing a swatch of paint or wall paper...
floor or tile samples or a cabinet door.
Stone comes in a block. Slabs are cut from the block like
a slice of bread. Slabs withing the block basically are the
same. Please do not ask to view all the slabs within a block.
Please keep in mind that the average slab can weigh 1000 pounds.
They take a bit of time and effort to move. Always call ahead.
Distributors do not discuss pricing with our customers. Please
call CMD in regards to pricing and for the exact amount of
slabs that are required for the job. Please call the offices
of CMD to inquire about supplier information and directions.
